Sweetheart Tut

Gather ‘round, my precious Tigerlilies, it’s time for another tut!

I know I have been gone for quite a while, but I am back and ready for action!

I used Paint Shop Pro 9 and Animation Shop 3 for my work. I also assume that you have a basic knowledge of both applications. Also, please bear in mind that my tuts are my own creations, and any resemblance to other tuts is entirely coincidental. Also, my tuts are guidelines. Please feel free to add your own creativity.

The font I used is Grenadier which I got at 1001 fonts

The filters I used were Eye Candy Glass

Keep in mind that you do not need to use the exact same filters or fonts or kit elements. You do not need to use the same kit or tube if you do not feel like it. Make the tag your own.

Let’s begin.

Open Paper 26, duplicate, close original and resize copy to 70%.

New raster layer, floodfill white.

Apply mask.

Frame #8 resize 53% paste as new layer

Mirror Close Up view of tube. Paste as new layer underneath frame.

Erase excess that is sticking out.

Layer Properties and then Luminance Legacy

Apply Penta Jeans to your liking.

Arrange how you like and apply your drop shadows as you like on each layer.  You may like different sizes and elements than what I used. Have fun with your elements.

Merge all and add your credits.

Now, if you want to do the animation, feel free to do the glitter step. If now, feel free to just add some more elements and then add your name.

Here is how I did the glittery fireworks.

Use element 153 from the kit. And duplicate it once.

For the larger one

Resize to 45%

Adjust and Sharpen

For the smaller one

Resize the copy to 20%

Adjust and Sharpen.

Duplicate each one twice. I find it easier to do each animation separately.

Working with the big one first, you have 3 copies. On the first copy, choose Adjust, Add Noise and pick a number. I usually start around 55. I also usually choose Gausian. Once I have the glitter done, I select COPY, then carry it over to AS and go to Edit and choose Paste as New Animation.

A little secret about animation is keeping the glitter close together. I chose 55 for my first number, so I never want to go higher than 5. So my second copy needs to be 60. I add my noise and when I get over to AS, I want to Paste After Current Frame.

My third one would be 65.

In order to make sure everything is good with my three pictures that are now one animation, you can now go up to the View Tab and select View Animation. Make sure your glitter is how you like it and then we’ll paste it onto your tag.

So to past the glitter onto the tag, you would carry a copy of the tag over to AS and duplicate it twice. The you would go to the first frame of the firework animation and you would Select All and Copy. Then you would Click in the first frame of the Tag you just duplicated, choose select all, and then you would choose Paste into Selected Frame. You would move your mouse  (but don’t click yet) and when you have it where you want it, then you would click and the firework will show up in all three frames. Then you would click on View Animation so you can see the animation.

If the tag satisfies you, then you would follow the procedure for the smaller firework.

If you are ready, save your animation as an MNG file. Saving it this way will fix it so that you optimize only once when you add your name. That will cut down on gremlins.

You will need to add your names in the same way – three copies. If you decide that you want glitter, you would glitter using the same settings that you did on the fireworks.

Now, though, when you save, you will save as a GIF. But when you switch to a new name, you will undo optimize and undo paste.

For my lettering, I used glass on my top layer and then I expanded my selection by 3, added a new raster layer and floodfilled and applied Lacquer. I merged the two layers and drop shadowed.

Winter Opal

Gather 'round my precious Tigerlilies, I have a new tut for you! I did this tut on November 29 using PSP9 and Animation Shop. Any resemblance to existing tuts is a coincidence.

OK, here is what you will need:

A tube - I am using Augustina by Verymany. You need a license to use her beautiful work. You can find everything you need at www.verymanytubes.com 

A kit - I am using Cheer by Tiny Turtle Designs at www.tinyturtledesigns.com 

Now, these are PTU items. If you have existing items that you wish to use, go right ahead. Sometimes it's really fun to just do your thing and make the tuts your own. I hope you will show me what all you do! I love seeing what people do with the tuts. 

Just follow your heart and have fun!

Next you will want a mask of your choice.

Choose two fonts. I picked Sunshine Blvd and Quantify which I got at www.dafont.com You will want the fonts to be different - such as one block and one script.

The filters I used are Flaming Pear Lacquer and Flaming Pear SuperBladePro. You can substitute if you want. I am old and I got these as freebies to try many years ago and I loved them and I will probably die still using them.

OK, so let's begin. Open a 650 X 650 canvas

Floodfill with Paper 31 from the Cheer kit.

New Raster Layer. Floodfill with white.

Apply your mask.

Return to bottom layer.

Layer Properties.

Set Opacity at 87.

Merge all.

My tube is kind of weird so in order to make sure I place everything right, I want to place my tube next. I resized her to 60% and Pasted As New Layer and I placed her where I wanted and added a drop shadow.

Element 10 - Free Rotate 25% Left

                      Apply Lacquer and play with it until it looks sort of like a golden opal. Each person's                            PSP settings are going to be different. 

                      Apply drop shadow

                       Duplicate the layer and mirror. Arrange where you want it.

Element 8 - resize 20% Paste and drop shadow

Depending on how your tube is, you may wish to arrange all your stuff differently than I did mine. You may want to duplicate more elements or delete some and add others from the kit. Go ahead! Make it your own! 

When you have everything how you like it, merge all your layers, go to Adjust, then select Sharpen, and add your credits.

Next, we are going to do the Winter Opal Word Art.

I would advise saving your work at this point because if anything crazy happens, you have a blank copy.

Open a new canvas I use a bigger one than what I need because I like having room.

Choose the font that you want to use for the Winter.  Since I generally work larger because I find it easier to use a larger size and then resize it to fit into my picture, I generally go with 48. Type the word winter. I used the SuperBladePro filter with the Aqualite setting and it gave me this coppery effect that totally looked like it belonged with my tube. I added a drop shadow and resized it to 60$ and then sharpened it and added it to my picture.

Then for the word Opal, I used my Sunshine Blvd font. I used Lacquer for the filter. When I placed it - after resizing to 60%, instead of a drop shadow, I used Add Noise at 41 and I used Eye Candy's Corona filter with a color chosen from the tube. It caused the word to look like an opal. If you do not have Eye Candy, you can use Drop Shadow which came with PSP and you can change the color and switch the Vertical offset to 3 and the horizontal to 1 to get the same effect.

Sharpen when you are satisfied.

If you do not wish to animate your tag, you are finished. I hope you had a good time.

Open Animation Shop.

Go back to PSP.

Choose your Freehand Selection tool and draw around what you want to become glittery. As I said, I like to make my areas extra big. Go to View, then Choose Zoom and Zoom In. Or you can use your mouse's roller button to make the image bigger. Sometimes people like the menu and sometimes people like the mouse. 

When you have circled all your areas, zoom back to 100%.

You should have marching ants around all your choices. 

Go to Window and then Choose Duplicate. Select Duplicate two times so that you have three pictures.

For your first picture, go to Adjust, choose Add Noise. I like Gausian Monochrome for this one. I also like a lower number. 50 for this one. Then Sharpen. Then Select None so the Marching Ants go away. Copy this. Take it over to Animation Shop and Past as New Animation.

Back to PSP. Minimize the first picture.

Go to the second picture. Add noise, but this time increase it to 55. Here is a little trick. You don't want to increase your noise by too much. That is why sometimes noise looks blurry. Never increase greater than 5. And always sharpen every time you add noise or resize. It will keep those little nasty gremlins from coming when you optimize your animation. 

Sharpen and Select None.

Copy and Carry over to Animation Shop, but this time you will Paste After Current Frame.

Back to PSP. Minimize the second picture.

Add Noise increased to 60. Sharpen. Select None.

Carry over to Animation Shop.

Paste After Current Frame.

Now one thing I always do before I do anything else is I go to Animation and View. I want to look for any problems with animation and I want to make sure everything is smooth and did everything look like how I imagined it would. Once I am satisfied, I save a copy as an MNG file. This is a non-optimized copy. If you want to add a name or an element you would use the MNG. If you keep optimizing a GIF you get gremlins. Nobody likes gremlins.

When you are sure you are satisfied and you are ready to offer this as I am right now, then you save as a GIF and you can share with your friends! I hope you had fun!

Tut - Fairywishes

Hello, my precious Tigerlilies, I have a magical tut for you today!

This tut is just adorable!

Here is what you are going to need:

The font Christmas on Crack from www.dafont.com

A winter mask of your choice. 

A fairy tube in Christmas or Winter colors. I am using a tube by Amy Brown from Creative Design Outlet. You must have a license to use her work. www.creativedesignoutlet.com 

A winter or Christmas themed scrap kit that coordinates with your tube. My kit was also purchased at CDO. It is a mini kit by Babycakes Scraps called Holiday Glow. 

Now, here's the thing. Sometimes I use PTU but that doesn't mean you have to go out and buy what I am using. If you have something you love that is FTU or if you want to use a whole other kit or tube or another color or theme, go ahead. That is part of the fun of tuts. Nothing has to be exact exact. Tuts are for fun.

Flaming Pear Lacquer filter (or Inner Bevel or Eye Candy Glass)

I made this tut using Paint Shop Pro 9 on November 25. Any resemblance to existing tuts is coincidental.

OK, let's begin.

Open New canvas 600 X 600

Use Paper 2 and floodfill.

New Raster Layer, floodfill white.

Apply your mask.

Go back to Raster 1 and apply Lacquer Filter of your liking. I used Dodge and Burn, and it looked like a pen and ink drawing so I Changed to Target and colored in red to make it stand out a little bit more.

Use element 36 and resized it to 80% and added a drop shadow and pasted it as a new layer. 

Adjust your tube so that it is in front of the frame how you like it. Add a drop shadow.

Element 22 - Adjust - Add Noise - 51

Then add drop shadow.

The reason you want to add the noise before you do the drop shadow is because if you put the drop shadow on and then you add the noise is because then your shadow will be glittery and it might look strange.

Everyone likes a different drop shadow so I leave that up to you. That is why I don't indicate specific drop shadow numbers.

You may need to erase the stem behind the bird.

Now, I needed to mirror this. You may not need to depending on your tube. Feel free to mirror, flip and adjust any elements so that your tube fits.

Resize 40%

25 - free rotate right 25 and resize to 40%

Adjust - add Noise 51.

Paste and drop shadow

Merge all your layers and then go to Adjust and select Sharpen. Any time you resize anything, it is a good idea to sharpen it back up because sometimes resizing can blur the images a teeny bit. This way you can freshen them back up and it makes them crisp.

Add your credits and then we will do our word art.

You can use any phrase or font you wish. Or you can use a name. 

I chose the font Christmas on Crack because it looked like a story book fairy tale one. 

I used a gradient that I had made years ago. You can use any color, gradient or pattern that you like to go with your tag. Type your text and set it how you like. I applied the lacquer filter again and applied a drop shadow.

Tigerlily's Christmas Tuts - Naughty or Nice

Snow is in the air, my precious Tigerlilies, and what better way to spend the Holidays than with PSP? Yay!

I have a fun fun tut for you today!

I created this tut on November 23, 2017. Any resemblance to any existing tuts is a coincidence. I used PSP9 and Animation Shop 3.

Here's what you need:

A mask of your choosing. I used one from Melissa with a lot of snowflakes.

Three distinctively different fonts

A tube. I am using a great one from Zlata_M You need a license to use her work. I got mine from Pics for Design.    www.picsfordesign.com

The scrap kit Naughty or Nice by Pink Paradox www.pinkparadoxproduction.com 

Filters Flaming Pear Lacquer

Eye Candy Corona

Open a canvas of 650 X 650

Open Paper 3 from the kit. Fill.

Then open a new layer and floodfill with white. 

Apply your mask.

Go to your bottom layer and apply the lacquer filter. Now, if you don't have Flaming Pear's filter series, that is OK, because the Inner Bevel filter that came with your PSP can do the same effect. You may want to play with it until you get an effect that you like. I also changed my colors from black to red and I got a sort of grayish foil effect around my trees. 

Merge All

Paste your tube as a new layer and move around how you like. My tube is pretty straight up and down. If your tube is lying down or kneeling, your elements and text will be placed differently than mine are. Heck, if you don't like the ones I used, you don't have to use them. Do what you like. I love Pink Paradox's kits because they are jam-packed with great elements and papers. There are so many choices! 

Frame #6 Resize 40% and free rotate left 25. Drop Shadow.

I love drop shadow and I do it for nearly everything. I also use different settings all the time, so if you have your favorite settings, go ahead and use those because mine can sometimes be weird. 

14 - resize 25% drop shadow.

I also assume you know to paste as new layer so I don't need to say it.

47 and 48 resize 25% drop shadow arrange

2 resize 25 and drop shadow. Now I needed to mirror it and put it on the other side. You may want to keep it on the other side and mirror other elements.

52 resize 25% drop shadow 

53 resize 30 drop shadow

9 resize 50% drop shadow

91 resize 50% drop shadow

90 resize 50% and paste under the frame. Now, do not drop shadow this because you want it to look sort of kaleidoscope-ish. Use your eraser tool and erase the parts that are showing outside of the star frame. Then add noise at 57 so it sort of looks like when you look into a kaleidoscope. 

Now, for your word art, use your different fonts to make the words Naughty or Nice and arrange them on your tag. I did mine on a free space near the bottom, so if I wanted to put anything extra in the kaleidoscope part, I had that option too. 

Then add your credits.

If you don't want to animate, merge your layers, go to adjust, sharpen and you are finished. 

If you wish to animate, here's what you do. Merge all your layers.

We are going to glitter the jewelry. Of course your tube may have something different to glitter.

Then, using your freehand selection tool, draw around the areas you wish to glitter.

When you have all the areas you want chosen, go to window and choose duplicate and make two copies. 

On your first image, go to Adjust, add noise, leave it at 57, hit OK, then Select None. Then Adjust, Sharpen. 

Go to Edit, Copy, and carry over to Animation Shop. Go to Edit and Paste As New Animation.

Minimize that first one in PSP. 

On the second one that still has marching ants, go to Adjust, Add Noise, change the number to 62, OK, Select None, Adjust, Sharpen, Copy, Paste After Selected Frame.

Minimize Second one.

Final one - Adjust, Add Noise, change the number to 67, OK, Select None, Select None, Adjust, Sharpen, Copy, Paste After Selected Frame.

And there ya go! I hope you had fun!

The Kit is Cressida by LilMzsBrainstorms. This kit is so exciting! Plenty of fun things in here for all your needs. 

I am using the font Drawing Nature from www.dafont.com

My mask is from MB & SW, but feel free to use your own mask if you wish.

Whenever I use a tube or kit element I always duplicate so that I am working with a copy and not an original.

Open paper 6 and resize it to 75%.

Add a New Raster Layer, but this time we're going to floodfill black. I know a lot of tuts call for white, but black is going to be an interesting variation.

Before you merge the layers after you apply the mask, go to Flaming Pear's Lacquer if you have it or to Inner Bevel and play with the effects until you have something you love. I liked my Lacquer effects with my mask because it reminded me of Northern Lights. 

For these elements, you may need to adjust size and placement depending on which tube you use. Or if you like other ones better, defo go for it and make the tag your own.

I always do a drop shadow on my items. Feel free to do a drop shadow to your liking.

Because the background is so dark, I chose a gray color to make the drop shadow stand out a bit more. You may want to use Adjust/Sharpen often.

I used Snap Art Watercolor, but you can apply a Gausian Blur in the Adjust pull down menu to achieve the same thing if you don't have Snap Art.

             I added another layer and used mirror and free rotate to place around the moth element. You may want to play around and see if having a couple of butterflies is nice for you too.

Add your credits at this point in time. 

For the name, I used black and applied my text - Drawing Nature is my font.

Then I did Selections?Modify?Expand?3

Then I added a New Raster Layer and Floodfilled with a cp;pr from the tube. 

I applied Lacquer to the bottom layer.

Then I chose Merge Visible, added a drop shadow and used Sharpen More. 

I pasted as New Selection and then moved my name around to fit into the tag.

I selected none and then I was done!

Mermaid Sparkles

Gather 'round, my most precious tigerlilies! I have an amazing tut for you to try. It is super easy and the goodies from this kit are amazing! 

I wrote this tutorial on August 7, 2017. Any resemblance to existing tuts is purely coincidental.

I used PSP9 and AS3.

My tube is Airella from Misticheskaya. You need a license to use her work. I got mine at www.picsfordesign.com

My kit is Doll Mermaid 1 by LilMzsBrainstorms. I got my kit at www.scrapsncompany.com

This kit is so exciting! It is jam packed with goodies for all your tagging needs!

As with all my tuts, please feel free to use any elements you wish and make your tag your own. Have fun!

You also don't have to animate if you don't want to.

Besides the kit and a tube, you will want a font. I am using Wibble and I got it at www.dafont.com

OK, begin by opening a 600 X 600 canvas.

I used paper 8. I always duplicate and close the original so I am working with the duplicate and not the original. 

Resize the duplicate to 75%.

I thought the paper was a bit bright, so I went into layer properties and lowered the opacity to 75%. My eyes just may be googly. if it looks OK to you, you do not need to adjust the opacity at all.

Element 33 - move into place and add a drop shadow to your preferred settings. 

Resize your tube and place in between the background layer and the frame layer. Move the tube so that it is in the frame. My mermaid's tail is pretty fluffy, so I used free rotate and set it at 5 and adjusted her just a teeny tiny bit so she'd fill the frame better. You may have to mess with it a bit.

For this next series of elements you are going to resize all to 30% and place wherever you wish. You may need to mirror and rotate them depending on how your tube is positioned. 

You will also drop shadow as you like.

If you wish to use more elements, definitely go for it. 

When you are satisfied with the positioning of everything and of the placement, Merge All and add your credits. 

Now, this is how you add the glitter.

Using the freehand selection tool in PSP, draw around the things you want to glitter. I did not choose everything. I don't have a very steady hand so I like to Zoom In More and I tend to take a good while to do my outlining. Make sure your selection mode is at Add-Shift. It makes me so mad when it changes back to Replace, so I watch that setting very closely. 

When you do a freehand selection, you will see marching ants around what you did. 

When you are satisfied, go to Window and Duplicate two times.

On the first one go to Adjust and Add Noise. I used setting 60 and I had Gausian checked.

Then I hit Adjust Sharpen and sharpened my selections.

Then Select None.

I chose copy, and then carried it over to AS and selected Paste as new animation.

I repeated the procedure for the next two duplicates and I increased the Add Noise by 5 each time, so 65 and 70. You want to keep the noise fairly closely spaced.

Each time I carried it over to AS, I selected Past after current frame. 

When everything is copied, go to AS and select View and then Animation. 

If you are satisfied with your tag, save it as an MNG file. The reason for that is that MNG doesn't keep optimizing and it acts like a clean blank copy every time. 

Now it's time for the name.

Back in PSP, open a new canvas. I used 600 X 300. There was no way the font would be that massive, but I like a little elbow room. 

I chose Wibble font. I had it set at 72. For my shorter names I resized at 115% and for my longer names, I did not to resize down to 80% so as not to mess up the view of my mermaid's tail. 

Typre your name. 

Then go to Selections/Modify/Expand. Expand 4 and then select New Raster Layer and floodfill with a matching color from your tube or from the kit. 

Select None.

On the New Layer Adjust/Add Noise and take that layer to the bottom.

Select the top layer and apply Eye Candy 4000 HSB Noise and then glass. Merge Visible and add a drop shadow. Adjust/sharpen and copy.

Go to AS and Paste as New Animation.

Duplicate twice.

Now this part you need to be careful with. Click on the first frame of your name. Go to Edit and Choose Select All. Then choose Copy.

Then Click on the first frame of your MNG file. Choose Select all under Edit. Then Choose Paste Into Selected Frame. Now, this has a cool feature because you can position it how you want. You set the action by clicking with your mouse. You must use Selecte all And Paste Into Selected Frame or it won't work. 

When you are satisfied, save as a GIF.

Gather 'round my precious Tigerlilies, have I got a beauty for you! 

This is such a lovely kit and tube to celebrate a wedding!

I am using a Selisan Al-Gaib tube called Lubbie Lee. I got it at Tiny Turtle Designs www.tinyturtledesigns.com and you will need a licence to use the tube.

The kit is Lubbie Lee from LilMzsBrainstorms and it is jam packed with everything you need for your wedding tags! You can get the kit at www.scrapsncompany.com.

I used RD Mask set 122 Mask 4, but feel free to use the mask of your choice. 

I used the font Stardust Adventure, which I found at www.urbanfonts.com but again, feel free to use a font you love.

Nothing is hard and fast about this tut.

Open Paper 13 and duplicate it. Close the original. Resize to 75% which will make your canvas 600 X 600. I like to leave my area big so I can see what I'm doing. If you are bound by size requirements, you can resize at the end. 

Make a New Raster Layer and floodfill it with white. 

Apply your mask. 

Before you Merge, click on Raster 1 and apply your effects. I used Xero's Fritillary. I just clicked Random until I found a pattern I liked. If you like a certain preset, go ahead and use that one.

I then applied Lacquer. Lacquer is a more obscure filter, so not everyone has it. Inner Bevel is a filter that does a lot of the same things that Lacquer does. Again, use the settings you like.

Element 95 - Resize 75% 

Adjust - Add Noise 66

Drop Shadow

You may be using a different tube than I did and that is totally OK. From now on, arrange your layers to suit your tube. Or, if you have a different vision and want to use other elements in the kit, go ahead and make it your own.

Element 3 - resize to 15%

Adjust - Add Noise - 66

Add your drop shadow

Element 20 - resize 30%

31 - resize 50%

Add noise

11 - resize 50%

42 and 43 - resize 40%

If you want to add some "bubbles" to your Champagne, use your magic wand and select the liquid in the glass. Add Noise. Than Select None and add your drop shadow.

91 leave as is but you may wish to add Lacquer or an Inner Bevel to make it stand out. 

34 - resize to 40%

27 - resize to 10%

81 - Lacquer

Add Noise

80 Resize to 22%

32 Resize to 25%

105 resize 25%

104 resize 25%

Add Noise

100 - resize 30%

Add your credits and make your arrangements how you like them. Then Merge All. 

For the text, I used Stardust Adventure.

I typed in my name and then applied Flaming Pear's Primus filter. They keep bugging me to upgrade to SuperBladePro, but I am too cheap to buy it. You can achieve the same effect with Inner Bevel or with Eye Candy Chrome and then Glass. 

Then add noise and Use Adjust - Sharpen More.
